Ein Alptraum – Nachtrag
Hey Leute,
Cheers,
Michael
My treasure hunt.
Hey everyone,
Today was a great day!
My father and I went to the Grazer “Fetzenmarkt”. It is the biggest fleamarket in my hometown and takes place four times a year.
I just love strolling around, looking at all the stalls and searching for treasures.
Of course I found some:
A full NOS razorblade display!
I am not sure, if I am going to use the blades, but they will look nice with my other shaving equipment.
A Gillette Super-Speed from 1948/49, in good condition.
I am a big fan of vintage safety razors, I collect and use them.
It fascinates me, how well they work. They were engineered way before my birth and in my opinion they are far better than the new 4, 5 or 6 bladed high-tech pieces of junk (and way less expensive), that are produced nowadays.
I am defiantly going to use this one!
And an old Stanwell Vario.
She was lying there between two broken Peterson system pipes, a rugged Vauen and some unsmokable NoNames. Poor thing, I thought, with a little bit of love and care, she could be a nice smokeable pipe again.
So you see, I just had to buy her and give her a nice new home, where she will be treasured and appreciated.
This weekend I will refurbish her and show you my way of dealing with estate pipes.
Cheers,
Michael “Dorian”
Awards!
Hey everyone,
each month the pipemakers in the German pipemaker forum ([Pfeifenmacher]) honour special pipes, and guess what!
My Jade pipe won two of those awards!
One for the pictures and one for the Sabamiki Finish of the pipe!
And I have to say, that I am very chuffed and honored that I won.
Cheers,
Dorian
On the workbench – Pot ´n´ Bones
Hey everyone,
I have started with a new pipe.
When it´s finished, it will be a nice smooth contrast stained pot. There are some minor flaws, but I hope to sand them away.
The grain so far is promising, is it not?
Furthermore, I am experimenting with another material for adornments: BONE!
(I cooked, disinfected and dried the bone myself!)
Cheers,
Dorian
A meeting, special Cumberland and a new pipe.
Hey everyone,
on Friday I met with the fellow pipeartist Peter Reuschling.
It was a great evening and he brought me, my share of the special Cumberland, which he had ordered.
Just look at the pattern!
Cheers,
Dorian
p.s. and i´ve just uploaded a new pipe!
